Job Description:

 Planning and coordination of tests, validation and S&A e.g. for quality improvements and cost reduction in cooperation with Engineering/ ADV(Analysis - Development – Validation) team

 Reporting in Technical Synthesis on all concept questions, deviations and deliverables

 First responder to Component Quality Analysis Team for New Emerging Issue alerts.

 Ensuring the timely technical release of sub-assemblies in drawings and DRO (parts list) on the basis of the product program. Participation in the Part Readiness review.

 Contact person for all internal customers regarding system-relevant questions regarding adaptation contracts, study requests, prototypes, parts list, project timing and QCDP (Quality, Costs, Delivery, Planning)

 Approval and participation in the initial construction of the BOMs as well as support in the resolution of BOM (Bill of Material) discrepancies (DRO check)

 Responsibility and management of task forces for the solution of systemic engine problems, as well as communication to the vehicle and engine project organization.

 Development and implementation of solution proposals in the form of QCDP (quality, cost, development, timing) in global cross-functional teams for the overall system

 Responsible for solving project timing challenges.

 Responsible for solving challenges in the event of supplier problems, supplier changes and late purchasing decisions.

 Answers the system-related questions of global cooperation between the various involved development centers.

 Actively leads studies to find solutions through all globally relevant committees.

 Updating status and results into GIMS, our Quality Initiatives documents and QEC teardown results database.

 Manage prototype hardware procurements and ED&D reqs

 Manage BRT (Build Readiness Team) for prototype orders

 Lead for shipping & receiving parts/transmissions for builds to/from suppliers

 Drive designers & DREs on moving the changes through the system to meet the implementation timing milestones and participate in design reviews with the COEs (weekly meetings)

 Ownership of mass/cost optimization (GCO/TCR)

 Lead resolution of commercial issues that are impeding release and PPAP timing (CE & Sr. Manager for PRC)

 The following are specific to new programs within the first 18 months of program approval

o Maintain the program “Plan for every part”

o Follow up with purchasing on prototype part timing.

o Follow up with purchasing & plant on make vs. buy strategy.

 Manages the development of the Applications Matrix including all interface requirements for given programs including all variants and various vehicle platforms.

 Coordinates packaging studies with each vehicle application to ensure all clearance requirements are met. Leads advanced vehicle adaptation designs studies and freezes.

 Updates and coordinates approvals of International Product Spec releases

 Updates and coordinates approvals of owners manuals

 Updates and coordinates approvals of CP, Compliance Report Standards

 Negotiates requirements with vehicle platforms based on product limitations and capabilities.

 Owns the Transmission Technical Specifications (TTS)/ Half shaft technical specifications (HTS) and communicates application specific requirements to the team (i.e. max torque, NVH, FE, tire size, FDR selection, mass, etc)

 Defines and tracks adherence to robust vehicle level and system level/sub-system functional objectives.

 Coordinates external design changes that require platform approval. Perform TOS as required.

 Develops, manages & communicates external issues and change management.

 Responsible for the review and approval of the Application Checklist for each CN (change notice)/ECCR/ECO

 Coordination of application specific designs (torque converter, dampers, vents, LV & HV wire connections, bracket attachments, trans oil cooling, PIM and e-motor integration, etc..) including controls & calibration strategies

 Represents chief organization on vehicle assembly plant requirements & events (i.e. supports pilot builds, EOL test, VIN marking, build issues, etc.). Development Manager leads vehicle assembly issues. AE supports.

 Leads Build Readiness tasks (instrumentation plan, dyno support)

 Coordinates COE assessments of bulletins and AT/Driveline engineering response to bulletins

Scope for decision-making

 Decides which points can be decided directly in the change management meeting and which must first be approved in the Technical Synthesis meeting

 Questions the demands of internal powertrain customers and negotiates requirements in the interest of the powertrain, e.g. in overall vehicle development

 Strategic alignment of the overall engine and sub-systems

6. PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (INDICATIVE): o No. of days for closure of Root cause investigations in terms of quality or development issues. o No. of days for closure of task force topics which are major roadblocks for a project.

7. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

Qualifications/Skills and Experience: 1) Bachelor / Master Degree in Mechanical /Automotive Engineering Discipline. 2) 6-8 years of experience in design/application engineering/ design integration of transmissions (Automatic, Dual clutch transmission, manual transmission) product line. 3) Should have experience of leading couple of Design & Development projects for transmission & transmission subsystems ( preferebaly automatic & Dual clutch transmission). 4) Should have exposure/knowhow/experience in validation of transmissions & transmission sub components 5) Should have sound knowledge on design of components/ application engineering 6) Should have sound knowledge on Detailing, Tolerance and stack up analysis. 7) Should have good knowledge on materials and heat treatment process. 8) Should have good knowledge of APQP processes. 9) Knowledge of structural simulations (CAE) would be preferable. 10) Should have very good soft skills. 11) Design and development experience in transmission/driveline technology as well as basic knowledge of vehicle and manufacturing technology in order to be able to evaluate the sequences of design concepts and changes

Essential Skills

Good knowledge of the PLM system, MS Office, the development process (SOD) and FMEA  Strong communication skills on a global level to be able to negotiate functional requirements and adequately represent the interests of the transmission in overall vehicle development.
