Job Description: Propulsion HVAC and Engine Systems - PHES VSA Dimensional Control Engineer

Candidate will participate in up front design & engineering activities including Design Reviews, Product Design Office Coordination meetings, and Engineering Feasibility meetings. Using knowledge gained through these activities, PHES Dimensional Control supports the upfront build strategy process datum selection, tolerance definition and gage review / buyoff processes. Additionally, supports program launches and plants in root causing dimensional issues. Work with cross-functional team to recommend and evaluate corrective action.

Responsible for:

1. Conducts 3D Variation Analysis process studies through up front processing strategies and review of completed models for accuracy and application development.

2. Supports and implements the PHES Dimensional Control processes.

3. Development of datum strategies, dimensional specifications and measurement plans.

4. Complete linear 1D & 2D Tolerance Stack / Analysis to validate vehicle design, locating schemes, and process alternatives, with the goal of managing dimensional variation.

5. Apply, review, and approve GD&T, dimensional specifications and drawings.

6. Driving quality improvement through innovation and by lessons learned from previous projects.

7. Ensuring dimensional standards and best practices are understood and applied by engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers.

8. Support the Gage / Checking Fixture Gage Review, Buyoff, and Gage R&R process.

 

Requirements: Basic Qualifications:

· BSME, BSEE or equivalent degree from an ABET accredited university.

· Expert Level (5+ years of experience), candidates with exposure to plants or manufacturing environment is a plus.

· Ability to create 3D Tolerance Analysis models and drive towards design solutions.

· Ability to apply, understand, create, and interpret GD&T per ASME Y14.5-2018 standard.

· Demonstrated ability to perform 1D &2D dimensional stack studies.

· CAD skills are preferred (CATIA, NX and Teamcenter).

· Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to work with a cross-functional teams.

· Knowledge in basic statistics and process control required.

· Familiarity with quality control concepts, control plans, statistics, and measurement systems.

· Familiarity with metrology equipment for root cause diagnostics.

· 0-20% travel, domestic and international.

Skill -- Competencies -- Requirements but not limited to the following:

· Working knowledge of statistics.

· Familiarity with design and engineering standards (ASME, ISO, AIAG, etc.).

· Innovative Thinker; Change Agent; Energized & Passionate; Practical – Minded; Technically Disciplined; Strong ambitious work ethic; Self-Starter with Strong Organizational Skills. 

· Preference on application of Dimensional Control on PHES Systems commodities including HVAC, exhaust, fuel systems, cooling and air induction systems.

Computer Requirements:

· VisVSA, Cetol, 3DCS or equivalent

· CATIA V5 or Unigraphics NX

· Well versed in Siemens & Adobe products including -- Vis Mockup, TeamCenter and PDF’s is preferred

· Microsoft or Google Office Products
